Launch Tree LIVE: Las Vegas!
What a great event. So many like-minded people coming together to share ideas, strategies, and alcohol.
I got to hang out with my good buddy Jason Moffatt (AKA Uncle MoFo) and we masterminded some KILLER ideas to share with my Monthly VIP Members over lunch at the noodle bar in the Bellagio.
If you’ve read my stuff before, you know i’m a HUGE fan of going to live marketing events. They are a great place to meet new people, learn lots of stuff, and just have a bunch of fun.
Especially when they’re held in a place like Las Vegas.
I met up with some of my great marketing friends, and met a bunch more. It was funny because my connecting flight from Buffalo was in Boston, and my marketing buddy Jason James ended up being on the same flight to Vegas!
So we had a chance to catch up while we were waiting to board the plane. Jason is a great marketer and you should definitely follow his stuff.
So off we went, and when we landed in the 106 heat (at 11 o’clock at night no less), we shared a cab to the M Resort where the event was being held.
To be honest with you, I rarely even go to the presentations at the events I go to these things. Maybe a few.
I should, but most of the time the real *deals* get made when people are sharing a few drinks at the hotel bar.
Why is that?
Easy – the marketing *circle* is a lot like high school. Certain people hang out with each other because they become friends. Naturally we are drawn to people who we like being around, and we tend to ‘stick’ with them in little groups.
This can be good and bad. I learned at this event that I need to ‘branch-out’ from the typical people I hang out with and make a conscious effort to meet others that I don’t already know.
All it takes is one right connection to get the ball rolling on a Million Dollar idea. And you never know who you’re going to meet.
So when you go to these events, make sure you are actively introducing yourself to people and asking them what THEY are working on. Show a genuine interest in what they are doing, and they won’t be able to help liking you.
And even if the people you meet aren’t doing the same or similar things as you, they might just know someone who is…
THAT is how real business partnerships are found and created.
